Symposium: Evidence-Based Approaches to Literacy for Early Childhood Settings

  • Turf Valley Resort 2700 Turf Valley Road Ellicott City, MD, 21042 United States (map)

This event is co-sponsored by Ready at Five, the Maryland Initiative for Literacy & Equity (MILE), and UMD’s Center for Educational Innovation and Improvement.

As Maryland moves towards evidence-based approaches to literacy, it is critical for early care and education professionals to understand the science of how children learn to read and strategies to providing young learners with the strong base they will need to become thriving readers and writers. Researchers and practitioners will share their insights into the new world of literacy education and how to support the diverse population of learners across the state.

Enjoy a keynote from MILE Co-directors Drs. Simone Gibson, DJ Bolger, workshops with Amanda Cataneo and Courtney Overton, and an engaging featured presentation from Education Pillar Member Christy Tirrell-Corbin, but be sure to register by March 25th! Registration: $175.
