Pillar Member Grant Application Receives Perfect Score From IMLS
Through a multi-Pillar collaboration, Beth Bonsignore (Research), José Ortiz (Associate Director, Community Outreach), and Rachel Romeo (Research) received a perfect score on their recent Grant Application to the Institute of Museum and Library Services for their work on The Hatchlings Project.
Over three years, the project will partner with families, libraries, and community partners in Maryland to evolve and assess a curriculum that meets different cultural needs. The goal is to improve parents' early literacy skills using proven methods to decrease gaps in language development and academic performance. By creating an adaptable model and providing free resources, the project hopes to establish a national strategy to eliminate literacy gaps caused by socioeconomic, racial, and ethnic differences.
The project speaks for MILE's shared goal across all Pillars to advance literacy in the state of Maryland.
