UMD Undergrads Sophia Stein and Alvaro Ceron-Ruiz Author “Literacy For All” With MILE Contributions
University of Maryland Public Policy students Sophia Stein and Alvaro Ceron-Ruiz authored a consequential literacy white paper with contributions from MILE’s Policy & Outreach Pillar. Stein and Ceron-Ruiz’s “Literacy for All: working toward a comprehensive literacy policy in Maryland” thoroughly evaluates ideal approaches to statewide literacy policy.
“Sophia Stein is a second year student pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy from the University of Maryland, College Park. She is a graduate of Montgomery County Public Schools, where she became interested in educational equity in Maryland during her time as a tutor and teaching assistant. Sophia's work for MILE focuses on forming legislative priorities for a comprehensive state literacy policy and aligning the Blueprint for Maryland's Future with literacy for all. Her research interests include education, climate, and social policy.”
